Studio Ghibli Color Designer Yasuda Machiyo has Passed Away

Today, one of anime’s greatest color designer has passed away. Yasuda Machiyo, color designer for Studio Ghibli has passed away at the age of 77.

Her credits span from 1986’s Castle in the Sky to 2013’s The Wind Rises (Miyazaki Hayao’s final film). She has collaborated with Miyazaki and Takahata Isao long before Studio Ghibli was established. Films such as 1972’s Panda! Go, Panda! and Miyazaki’s 1976 TV series 3000 Leagues in Search of Mother.
